INSPIRING GUTSY LIFESTYLES ROOTED IN RURAL
Jan and Erin Johnson

At Community Futures Wild Rose, we're commemorating our 35th anniversary with a heartfelt road trip through our region, visiting the incredible clients who have shaped our journey. Our latest stop brought us to Rocky View County, where we had the pleasure of hearing from Jan and Erin Johnson, the dynamic mother-daughter team behind "Trailblazher."

Jan and Erin Johnson have been on an entrepreneurial adventure together for over 20 years, sharing their lives and dreams on an acreage outside Crossfield. They are the creators of Trailblazher magazine and hosts of The Trailblazher Podcast, which amplifies the unique perspectives, wisdom, and lifestyles of rural women. Read on to hear their story…

The Birth of Trailblazher Co

Trailblazher Co was born from the shared passions and talents of Jan and Erin. What began as a humble business journal in 2011 has blossomed into an international print magazine, a popular podcast, and soon, an online marketplace and directory. Their journey reflects a steadfast commitment to spotlighting the remarkable endeavours of rural women in Canada and the US, bringing their products, services, and stories to a global audience.

Jan and Erin have encountered countless inspiring women across North America throughout their entrepreneurial journey. Technology has played a transformative role, enabling them to forge meaningful connections and amplify voices. Each story shared on their platform reaffirms their belief in the boundless potential of their community.

A defining moment for Trailblazher Co was the arrival of their inaugural magazine issue in the fall of 2020. Despite the challenges, this milestone brought a profound sense of pride and validation, fueling their confidence and excitement for the future.
