SAFEblu Fire & Safety Services

SAFEblu Fire & Safety Services

Original Owners: Jim and Chantelle Jacobs
New Owners: Hyder and Christina Hassan

Meet Jim and Chantelle Jacobs, owners of Safeblu Fire and Safety Services. Since they became our clients in 2010, Community Futures Wild Rose has had the privilege of supporting their business here in Strathmore, Alberta. Safeblu has proudly established itself as the go-to destination for safety solutions, offering training, drug and alcohol testing, consulting, and supplies.

Today, Safeblu is transitioning to new owners, Hyder and Christina Hassan. As part of our 35th anniversary celebration, we spoke with Chantelle Jacobs to reflect on Safeblu's journey. Here’s their story...

Born from Jim and Chantelle Jacobs' recognition of a critical service gap in Strathmore, Safeblu Fire & Safety was founded in 2003. They started their business at home in Wheatland County, skillfully balancing entrepreneurship with family life. With strong community support, Safeblu quickly outgrew its home base and moved to a dedicated facility in Strathmore by 2005.

As the company grew, Community Futures Wild Rose provided essential guidance and resources. When securing financing became a challenge, CFWR was able to offer financial assistance and strategic business planning support. Our belief in Safeblu's potential was instrumental in the company’s continued growth.

Throughout Safeblu’s expansion in Strathmore and beyond, Community Futures remained a steadfast partner, offering not only financial support but also fostering an environment conducive to entrepreneurial success. A significant milestone in this partnership was a succession planning workshop in 2022, which facilitated the smooth transition of ownership to Hyder and Christina Hassan.

Hyder and Christina, with their deep commitment to community values and a shared vision for Safeblu, are poised to take the company to new heights. With Christina’s background in rural traditions, they aim to elevate Safeblu to the pinnacle of safety excellence in Alberta. Collaborating closely with the Jacobs family, they foresee a future where Safeblu sets the standard for safety solutions.

For the Jacobs family, Safeblu’s journey has been transformative, highlighting the power of perseverance, community support, and the integration of business with family life. Through the ups and downs, they have supported local talent, contributed to the community, and found fulfillment in growing their business and family together. As they hand over the reins to the Hassans, their legacy of resilience and community commitment continues to inspire, exemplifying the enduring spirit of entrepreneurial success.
