Nestled in Rosebud, Alberta, the Queen Regent Bed and Breakfast proudly claims the titles of the area's first, finest, and most affordable B&B. Fondly known as "the place to stay" in "the Bud," this historic 4,000 sq ft home offers regal accommodations amidst the serene Rosebud Valley, making it an ideal sanctuary for theatre enthusiasts and adventurers alike. Situated just a block away from the renowned Rosebud Theatre, it's perfectly positioned for a memorable stay. Alana Bowker, the owner of Queen Regent B&B, became a Community Futures Wild Rose client in 1997. As part of our 35th anniversary celebration, we reconnect with Alana to hear her inspiring story firsthand. Join us as she recounts her journey.
From the moment I set foot in the picturesque Rosebud Valley, it felt like destiny calling. The rolling hills and tranquil atmosphere whispered to me, urging me to create something special. It was then that the idea of a charming B&B took root in my mind, a place where people from around the globe could find solace and serenity.
As I embarked on this journey, fate introduced me to Gail Johnson, the heart and soul of the Rosebud Country Inn. Our friendship blossomed, fueled by shared dreams and laughter. Together, we navigated the intricacies of hospitality, with Gail generously guiding guests my way when her inn reached capacity. Though her departure left a void, her spirit of camaraderie and joy remained a guiding light.
Amidst the challenges of entrepreneurship, there was a defining moment that bolstered my resolve. It was the day I rolled up my sleeves and tackled a malfunctioning pump in the basement, plunging into the murky depths of wastewater. Despite the mess, the triumph of fixing it ignited a fire within me—a realization that I possessed the strength and skill to overcome any obstacle that crossed my path.
As I reflect on my journey, my greatest aspiration is to inspire the next generation of Rosebud's young women. I long for them to embrace their inner strength, fearlessly pursuing their dreams with unwavering determination. May they never shrink from investing in their aspirations, knowing that within them lies the power to shape their own destinies. As I strive to create unforgettable experiences for my guests, I hope to be remembered as a beacon of hospitality, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and care in this enchanting valley.
