The concept for my business stemmed from my time as a recreational therapist at Project HOPE. Working with individuals with diverse neurological needs gave me a deep sense of fulfillment. I loved watching them surpass their own expectations, learning, growing, and finding joy in each moment. However, I often wondered what opportunities awaited them once they completed their years in school. Initially, I put this dream on hold to raise my family and later shifted to working with seniors, a role I also enjoyed. But when I took on a part-time role running evening activities, my passion for this work was reignited. This role ultimately grew into a day program, and my long-held dream began to take shape.
One of the most impactful experiences in this journey has been watching how peer interactions foster incredible growth. The learning that happens through camaraderie, shared experiences, and friendship is amazing to witness. Being part of these moments and seeing participants thrive and connect is a joy that fuels me daily.
My proudest moments are often the simplest. Every day, when participants come to our program with excitement, looking for hugs, handshakes, or high-fives from staff, it lifts my spirits. On tough days, this energy from our participants turns everything around and reminds me why I embarked on this journey.
Through this business, I hope to leave a legacy that genuinely supports individuals, families, and communities. My goal is to provide a valuable service that supports participants and their families within our community and neighbouring areas. I aim to bridge the information gap that often exists between government agencies and families, ensuring that essential resources and knowledge are more accessible. Additionally, I hope to build a strong support network to assist families as their loved ones transition into adulthood, helping them navigate this crucial stage with confidence. Ultimately, my vision is to offer families lasting peace of mind, knowing that their vulnerable family members will be cared for as they and their parents grow older.
My aspiration is to build a community that supports every stage of life for vulnerable individuals, creating a sustainable impact that extends well beyond my time with the program.
