Beiseker Fresh Market

Beiseker Fresh Market, owned by Doug and Dalton Dingman, has quickly become a cornerstone of the community since taking over in January. With Doug’s 50 years of experience as a meat cutter and 25 years as a grocery store operator, the family-run store offers fresh, local options so residents don’t have to travel to Airdrie. Beyond groceries, they actively support community life by donating to the school’s drama club and grad, the dog park opening, and the Stampede breakfast, while also sponsoring prizes at local events. Their grand opening celebrated with giveaways, reflecting their commitment to giving back to Beiseker families.

Little Nest Daycare in Irricana fills a vital need for families seeking quality, licensed childcare close to home. Since opening, it has supported families not only in Irricana but also in nearby communities like Beiseker, Acme, Crossfield, and Carbon. Little Nest provides more than care! It offers a nurturing, inclusive environment where children thrive and families feel supported. The team actively gives back through community events, fundraising, and initiatives like Welcome Kits for new residents. They also provide free or low-cost care to families in need. Little Nest Daycare is truly helping build a stronger, more connected community, one child at a time.

World Famous Gopher Hole Museum

The World Famous Gopher Hole Museum in Torrington is more than quirky taxidermy. It’s a cultural gem and community hub. Operated by the Torrington Tourism Action Society under Executive Director Laural Kurta, it welcomes 15,000 visitors annually, boosting nearby businesses as travellers stop for gas, food, and supplies.

Since 2020, Laural has led efforts to restore landmarks, beautify the hamlet, and revive events like a community music festival. The museum also supports the local playschool, renovates public spaces, and promotes rural museums across Alberta. With laughter echoing through its halls, this “little museum that could” brings joy, pride, and connection to all.

Never Done Quilting, owned by Brent and Kim Schmaltz in Beiseker, is more than a quilt shop… It’s a destination and a community builder. Since opening in 2017, the shop has welcomed visitors from across the globe and shipped fabric worldwide, all while supporting local organizations like the Beiseker Library, Lions Club, food bank, and more.

Their biggest impact? Hosting multi-day quilt retreats that bring makers from across Alberta together in Beiseker. These gatherings foster creativity, friendship, and support other local businesses, too. With heart, hospitality, and a passion for their local community and their crafting community, Never Done Quilting truly lives up to its nomination.

Secret Events Alberta

Secret Events Alberta, based in Acme and owned by James McGrath, is a community-driven, music-focused business bringing high-energy experiences to events across the province. From house and techno to dubstep and hardstyle, Secret Events delivers unforgettable sets that get crowds moving.

This year, they brought the beats to Acme Sports Day, donating five hours of live DJ entertainment for the beer gardens and bouncy houses. This earned them a nomination for CFWR’s Heart of our Community award! Passionate about both music and community, Secret Events Alberta continues to make a big impact with every performance right from the heart of Acme.

Snips Hairstyling in Acme, owned and operated by Carmel Letkemann, has been a trusted part of the community for over 21 years. Known for her warm personality and excellent service, Carmel has built long-standing relationships with her clients. Beyond the salon chair, Carmel is a generous supporter of her community. She regularly donates hair products and services to local fundraisers in Acme and the surrounding areas. Whether it’s a fresh haircut, a new colour, or a kind gesture for a good cause, Carmel’s dedication makes Snips a true gem in the heart of Acme

Yoga Pure & Barre

  

Yoga Pure & Barre in Beiseker, owned by Stephanie Young, is a wellness hub rooted in inclusivity, empowerment, and community. Stephanie offers a range of yoga and barre classes tailored to all skill levels, always fostering a supportive and welcoming atmosphere.

She’s partnered with FCSS to offer free yoga for seniors, led sessions at the KIK Women’s Retreat, and co-created The Prairie Wellness Collective, a local wellness newsletter. Her studio features exclusively Canadian-made products, including mugs from Beiseker’s own Slapdash Ceramics. From guided meditations to post-class tea time, Stephanie is building strength and connection…one breath at a time.

LoveStruck Portraits in Irricana, owned by Chelsea Page, is all about capturing authentic, stress-free moments that tell your story. With over 19 years of photography experience, Chelsea brings both skill and heart to every session. She’s also a dedicated community member, serving on boards for the local playschool, kindergarten, soccer association, and as a founding member of the Irricana Chamber of Commerce. Chelsea volunteers her time photographing community events, rodeos, school portraits, and business headshots. She’s helped organize fundraisers and markets, always finding ways to give back. Through her lens and leadership, Chelsea truly embodies the heart of her community.
