We are excited to have a temporary summer student position open June through August 31.  The successful applicant will be working out of our Community Futures Wild Rose Strathmore office on a full-time, temporary term position.  Applications must be 15 years or older and returning to school in the fall of 2017.  Resumes must be received by June 5 to be eligible.

 

Job Description for COMMUNITY FUTURES WILD ROSE

Community Economic Development Assistant (Student Position)

Reporting to the General Manager, this position is primarily responsible for providing support to Community Futures Wild Rose (CFWR) staff in the implementation of community economic development and community building strategies and administrative office tasks.  This position will involve working closely with staff as an assistant to accomplish major projects (ie. Open Farm Days), while supporting website development, social media posting, and other adminstative tasks.

    Duties:

·    Support community development projects by assisting staff with advertising, site visitations, communicating with stakeholders, researching and organizing;

·    Assist staff with implementing community economic development strategies;

·    Help develop marketing and communication tools such as the website, social media posts, pamphlets, brochures, and signage;

·    Support administrative tasks including transferring written documents to electronic files;

·    Be available to assist in representing CFWR at community trade fairs, community development initiatives and events.

·    Demonstrate continuous effort to improve and enhance operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide seamless client service;

·    Foster a cooperative team environment within the organization;

·    Other duties as assigned; such as, but not limited to, answering the telephone and providing administrative support to the various office staff.

·    The chosen candidate may be asked to attend the Alberta Youth Entrepreneur Camp in Cypress Hills as a representative of CFWR subject to meeting the necessary police and vulnerable sector check requirements;

Qualifications

·     Excellent communication skills, written and oral;

·     Driven and self-motivated;

·     Good understanding of various social media tools, experience posting to social media, coordinating messaging and website maintenance;

·     Capable of creating marketing material;

·     Good computer skills, experienced with Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel;

·     Ability to relate well to people and work in a team environment;

·     Excellent customer service skills;

·     Experience or education with a focus in Agriculture and/or Business is an asset.
